iPoker (Informed Poker) offers a free online Texas Hold'em poker application that displays your equity during gameplay with other participants. This insight can aid you in making well-informed decisions, hence the app's namesake.
The app conveniently indicates the maximum bet amount that yields a positive expected return, if such an amount exists. In cases where every bet amount results in a positive expected return (such as when you possess substantial equity), this information is omitted from the interface. When this value is presented on-screen, it is advised that betting conservatively yields the highest expected return, as exceeding the specified amount leads to a negative expected return.
It is essential to understand that the aforementioned statements are probabilistic in nature, representing fractions or average winnings over a significant number of trials. For instance, an 85% preflop equity for pocket aces against two players implies that if this scenario is repeated numerous times (e.g., one million times), pocket aces are likely to secure victory approximately 85% of those instances (roughly 850,000 out of one million occurrences). This also means that even in highly favorable situations, a 15% chance of loss exists (equivalent to 150,000 occurrences out of the one million). Despite possessing high equity numbers, individual hands can still incur losses within a singular trial.
Gameplay is straightforward; simply select a screen name to commence playing. Your earnings and various statistics (including hands played and largest win) remain accessible as long as you consistently use the same device with identical account details. Optionally, you can choose to establish a login name and password during the screen name creation process, enabling you to transfer your winnings across different devices.
The application enables you to customize various aspects of gameplay such as stakes (small blind, big blind, and buy-in) and game speed options (relaxed, normal, or fast). Buy-in values range from as low as 1,000 to as high as 1,000,000,000.
Players have the choice of allowing the server to assign them to a table based on their preferences or creating/joining private tables to enjoy games with friends.
Upon initial registration, players are awarded 100,000 complimentary chips. Additional free chips can be acquired by watching brief videos, referring friends, or by opting to purchase more chips to access higher stake tables.
